Drawing, Design for a Woven Fabric

This is a Drawing. It is dated 1825–1850 and we acquired it in 1909. Its medium is brush and gouche on oily tracing paper. It is a part of the Drawings, Prints, and Graphic Design department.

This object was donated by Eleanor Garnier Hewitt and Sarah Cooper Hewitt. It is credited Gift of Eleanor and Sarah Hewitt.

It has the following markings

On paper to which object is sewn, watermarks: double heart, INS in the upper one (?) between J (?) and H (?); hanging bunch of grapes.

It is inscribed

Right center, written horizontally, in opposite direction: "185 Dumas."
