This is a rectangular tortoiseshell card case. It is comprised of two flat tortoiseshell panels, that both curl at one side so when closed the cards are contained. The case is constructed so that the two panels of case are connected at the bottom, center by a protruding half-circle pin, which allows the sides to fan outward, revealing cards within. The bottom panel of tortoiseshell has been curled at one side—on the left—creating a cylindrical tube that holds a writing pencil. At the top, center of the bottom panel is a latch which connects to a hook on the upper panel securing the card case shut.
