Pleated Fan (Italy)

This is a Pleated fan. It is dated late 17th–mid- 18th century and we acquired it in 1955. Its medium is front and back leaves of fine parchment with pen and ink drawing, carved, incised and pierced ivory sticks with mother-of-pearl inlay, glass stone at rivet. It is a part of the Textiles department.

This object was donated by Cole Porter.
