Unfinished Bag (USA)

This is a Unfinished bag. It is dated 19th century and we acquired it in 1955. Its medium is silk thread, cut steel beads and its technique is knitted. It is a part of the Textiles department.

“What I love about this fragment of a bag is that you don’t care about what it’s going to become, you’re transported by the process and the luminosity of the beads and you have a direct sense of the skill of its maker.” Duro Olowu

It is credited Gift of Charlotte Schreiber.
