Textile (France)

This is a Textile. It is dated 1860s and we acquired it in 1956. Its medium is silk and its technique is plain weave (purple) patterned by floats of a continuous supplementary weft (black). the two wefts exchange functions allowing the foundation weft (purple) to float on the front. It is a part of the Textiles department.
