Square

This is a Square. It is dated 1830–1860 and we acquired it in 1959. Its medium is cotton and its technique is block and machine printed. It is a part of the Textiles department.

Rectangular vanity case with central motif depicting a Persian and floral scroll design in mauve, emerald green, orange petals, and gold swirls. The case is framed by diamond borders at the top and bottom and a raised pinkish-mauve enamel outline. Oval and arched emeralds fill the bottom and top, accented with diamonds. A thin diamond-set thumbpiece tab is centered on the right edge.
