Sauceboat Sauceboat

This is a sauceboat. It was manufactured by Clignancourt Porcelain Manufactory. It is dated 1775–1785 and we acquired it in 1967. Its medium is hard paste porcelain, vitreous enamel, gold. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

This object was donated by Mrs. Maxime Hermanos and Maxime Hermanos. It is credited Gift of Mr. and Mrs. Maxime Hermanos.

Its dimensions are

H x W x D: 11.3 × 23 × 8.6 cm (4 7/16 × 9 1/16 × 3 3/8 in.)

It has the following markings

Underside: [1] crowned mark featuring interlaced letters, painted in red overglaze (manufactory mark) [2] "7[?]163", written in blue ink on oval label with jagged edge adhered to underside (probably ex-collection number)
