Fragments

This is a Fragments. It is dated early 18th century and we acquired it in 1972. Its medium is silk, metallic thread and its technique is 8-harness satin patterned by weft floats (alternate wefts are a complementary pair) plus a continuous supplementary weft; all weft floats (including supplementary weft) bound in 3/1 twill weave by a supplementary warp. It is a part of the Textiles department.

This object was bequest of Estate of Julian Clarence Levi.
