We acquired this object in 1973
Floral design with large exotic blooms in reds and blue, on a black speckled ground.
This textile is medium: cotton technique: mordant painted and dyed; blue applied by brush over resist; yellow applied by brush; chintz on plain weave. Its dimensions are: H x W (a): 48.5 x 25.4 cm (19 1/8 in. x 10 in.) H x W (b): 22.9 x 21 cm (9 in. x 8 1/4 in.) H x W (c): 22.2 x 17.5 cm (8 3/4 x 6 7/8 in.) H x W (d): 21.6 x 17.1 cm (8 1/2 x 6 3/4 in.) H x W (e): 25.4 x 12 cm (10 in. x 4 3/4 in.) H x W (f): 17.8 x 9.5 cm (7 in. x 3 3/4 in.).
Gift of Josephine Howell. Its provenance is ex. coll. Martin scrapbook (Gift) We acquired this object in 1973.
