Sampler (USA)

This is a Sampler. It was embroidered by Abigail Mears, American. It is dated 1772 and we acquired it in 1974. Its medium is silk embroidery on linen foundation and its technique is embroidered in counted and uncounted stitches: cross, satin, surface satin, stem and eyelet stitches on plain weave foundation.
