Ice Skater Matchsafe

This is a matchsafe. It is dated late 19th century and we acquired it in 1978. Its medium is silver-plated metal (possibly alpacca). It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

This object was donated by Carol B. Brener and Stephen W. Brener. It is credited Gift of Stephen W. Brener and Carol B. Brener.

Its dimensions are

6 x 4.3 x 1.1 cm (2 3/8 x 1 11/16 x 7/16 in. )

It has the following markings

ALPACCA, and unidentified maker's mark (R with a crown above it), all stamped on front exterior near top.
