Pleated Fan (possibly China)

This is a Pleated fan. It is dated 1720–30 and we acquired it in 1939. Its medium is painted parchment leaf, carved and pierced ivory sticks inlaid with mother-of-pearl, mother-of-pearl thumb guard, metal rivet. It is a part of the Textiles department.

This object was donated by Miss Adele Kneeland. It is credited Bequest of Miss Adele Kneeland through Mrs. Philip Ainsworth Means.
