Sidewall (England)

This is a sidewall. It was created by Walter Crane. It is dated ca. 1890 and we acquired it in 1980. Its medium is machine-printed paper. It is a part of the Wallcoverings department.

It is credited Gift of Dr. Francis J. Geck.

This small square doily has long fringes on all sides, with an ivory linen warp (fringe top and bottom) and bronze-colored silk weft (fringe to the left and right). A figure in a dress made of bluebells is framed by bluebells, with the word Bluebell in the upper left, on a bronze-colored background. Flowers and stems surround her with a small, three-petal pattern frame on along the edge of the doily.
