What is this?

Quarter of a printed scarf with iris pattern in both the border and field. In magenta and black.

This is a scarf sample from France. It is dated mid-19th century and we acquired it in 1981. Gift of Barbara Rogoff. This object is currently resting in our storage facility ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
