This is a plate. It was manufactured by Sèvres Porcelain Manufactory and painted by Jean Charles Develly. It is dated 1827 and we acquired it in 1989. Its medium is hard paste porcelain, vitreous enamel, gold. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

Underside: [1] interlaced LLs enclosing fleur-de-lis, "Sevres / 27" below, painted in grey (manufactory and date mark) [2] "7 ms. 21 E" below, painted in green overglaze (7th March 1821? Date when blue ground was applied) [3] "DG. 17 avril", painted in gold (gilder's initials and date gilding was applied) [4] cursive "D C", incised [5] "P . S . II", incised (the "S" is horizontal)
