A narrow, four-sided vase. The shape is pyramid-like, with two small handles at the top. Against the white background are light-colored leave, rising from the base to the top. In the middle is a small, dark bird facing the viewer. Above it is a series of light purple flower pedals, poking out of the reccuring leaf pattern.

Two-Handled Vase Vase

This is a vase. It was painted by Samuel Schellink and manufactured by Rozenburg Pottery and Porcelain Factory. It is dated 1903 and we acquired it in 1995. Its medium is porcelain, vitreous enamel. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

The decoration on Rozenburg porcelain was designed by a few master painters including Samuel Schellink, who is responsible for most objects in this case. His designs were applied in pencil and then other painters would complete the decoration. In 1900, there were 60 painters and 10 apprentices
working at Rozenburg.

This object was donated by Arthur G. Altschul. It is credited Gift of Arthur Altschul.

A tall white bottle. The central section contains a vase-like shape. On either sides of the top part are two handles, curving from 2/3 of the way toward the top of the bottle and up to meet the hole in the center. The design is floral. Narrow green stems blossom from the base of the of the bottle and curve upward. Yellow pedals appear at various places.

This glossy white porcelain vase is shaped like a squared bottle with curving handles at each side, arcing out from the shoulders to join the vase near the top of the long, narrow neck. The line of the handle and side is a smooth S curve. Painted on the front and side are large orange-brown lilies, one on each side, with muted green-brown foliage. Smaller white and yellow daisies are painted at the base of the lilies, growing up from the straight bottom edges of the vase.
