Fragment (France)

This is a Fragment. It was manufactured by Petitpierre Freres and made by Petitpierre et Cie. It is dated 1770–90 and we acquired it in 1996. Its medium is cotton and its technique is printed by engraved plate on plain weave foundation. It is a part of the Textiles department.

This object was bequest of Elinor Merrell. It is credited Bequest of Elinor Merrell.

Its dimensions are

H x W: 13.5 × 98 cm (5 5/16 × 38 9/16 in.)

It is inscribed

On front of fabric, "Petitpierre Freres et Comp. a Nantes bon Teint/ Dn 38"within box. A boxed letter "F" stands for the printer.Designs with lateral bands and sawtoothed edges are at either side. On back of fabric, "GUI.4 19".
