Bedcover (Mexico)

This is a Bedcover. It is dated 18th century and we acquired it in 1995. Its medium is cotton foundation, wool, silk, metal-wrapped silk, sequins, glass beads and metal coils and its technique is embroidery in stem, satin and chain stitches on 1\2 twill. It is a part of the Textiles department.

This object was bequest of Elinor Merrell. It is credited Bequest of Elinor Merrell.

H x W: 257 x 193 cm (8 ft. 5 3/16 in. x 6 ft. 4 in.)

It has the following markings

Label sewn to back of lower right corner on which is written in faded ink, "Drawing Room Portiere Side Door".
