Stenciled Felt (Koshu-inden) (Japan)

This is a Stenciled felt (Koshu-inden). It is dated 1900–1979 and we acquired it in 1979. Its medium is wool and its technique is lacquer applied to felt through punched (tsuki-bori) stencil to one side of felt. It is a part of the Textiles department.

This object was donated by Takami Sugiura.
