Plate Plate

This is a plate. It was manufactured by Copeland & Garrett, Copeland & Garrett and Spode Ceramic Works. It is dated 1833–1847 and we acquired it in 1959. Its medium is hard paste porcelain, vitreous enamel, gold. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

This object was donated by Emily H. Chauncey. It is credited Bequest of Emily H. Chauncey.

H x diam.: 2.4 × 23.4 cm (15/16 × 9 3/16 in.)

It has the following markings

Underside: [1] "COPELAND & GARRETT" surrounding "LATE / SPODES / FELSPAR / PORCELAIN", transfer-printed in brown overglaze (manufactory mark) [2] "9" or "6", impressed underglaze [3] "4058", painted in gold overglaze (probably pattern number)
