This is a Bratina (ceremonial vessel), stand and tcharkas (cups). It was designed by Pavel Akinov Ovchinnikov and made by Pavel Ovchinnikov. It is dated 1884 and we acquired it in 1983. Its medium is raised, repoussé, chased, and engraved parcel-gilt silver. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

marked on base of bowl with POVCHINNIKOV mark in cyrillic in rectangular punch with Imperial eagle above in oval punch, assay master's mark B.C (=V.S.) over 1884 in rectangular punch, and Moscow town mark of St George slaying dragon for 1880-1884.
