Sampler (USA)

This is a Sampler. It was embroidered by Love Bickford. It is dated 1780–89 and we acquired it in 1984. Its medium is silk embroidery on linen foundation and its technique is embroidered in cross stitch on plain weave foundation, with borders of overcasting with deflected element. It is a part of the Textiles department.

It is credited Gift of Anonymous Donor from the Fraser/Martin Collection.
