Greeting Card, Valentine

This is a Greeting card. It was designed by Marian Bantjes. It is dated 2010 and we acquired it in 2013. Its medium is lasercut card stock. It is a part of the Drawings, Prints, and Graphic Design department.

Marian Bantjes began sending valentines to friends and colleagues in 2005. Each year she creates a different design. For 2010, she decided to make valentines from old Christmas cards she had collected from friends. Bantjes designed a pattern and, working with the firm Arkwell Industries, put the cards through a laser printer to transform the rather prosaic cards into valentine “snowflakes.” Bantjes produced 500 unique iterations of the valentines; this is one of six of under consideration for acquisition.

This object was donated by Marian Bantjes. It is credited Gift of Marian Bantjes.
