Brooch

This is a brooch. It is dated 1984 and we acquired it in 2016. Its medium is sheet silver, mosaic stone, rolled and compressed stainless steel mesh and knitted copper wire. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

Fisch used woven steel mesh and knitted copper wire to contrast with the flat silver sheets to produce a richly nuanced surface effect in this brooch.

This object was donated by Susan Lewin. It is credited The Susan Grant Lewin Collection, Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum.
