Swiss sculptor, stage and graphic designer, Armin Hofmann was born in Winterthur, Switzerland, 29 June, 1920. He studied at the School of Arts and Crafts in Zurich. From 1946 he has been a freelance designer working in Basel and Bern. From 1947-1955, and from 1957 to the present, he was an instructor in graphic design at the School of Arts and Crafts in Basel. He has been a visiting lecturer in graphic design at Yale University, New Haven, (1955), the Philadelphia Museum School (1955), Aspen International Design Conference, Colorado (1956), and the National Design Institute, Ahmedabad (1965).
