Flavor Paper | People | Collection of Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum

Flavor Paper was founded in New Orleans in 2004 but has since moved their headquarters to Brooklyn, New York. Many of Flavor Paper’s designs are retro-inspired with an edge. They print on a variety of paper, Mylar and vinyl surfaces creating fun, unexpected, and unique designs. There are four wallpapers and one silk screen in the collection that were produced and donated by Flavor Paper.

A sidewall of a large close-up portrait of Marilyn Monroe screen printed and painted on chrome Mylar. The portrait is composed of a range of pink tints accentuating the contours of the face known as a silhouette. Other than the contours, the majority of the face is the same light gray color as the ground. The portrait has fragmented repeats above and below the full facial silhouette and the photograph captures the same.
