Coffeepot with Battle Scenes ("Bataillen-Malerei") Coffeepot, 1763–1780

This is a coffeepot. It was manufactured by Berlin Porcelain Factory and modeled by Freidrich Elias Meyer. It is dated 1763–1780 and we acquired it in 1953. Its medium is hard paste porcelain, vitreous enamel, gold. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

This object was bequest of Georgiana L. McClellan. It is credited Bequest of Georgiana L. McClellan.

Its dimensions are

H x W x D (a: pot): 17.5 × 15 × 10.5 cm (6 7/8 × 5 7/8 × 4 1/8 in.) H x diam. (b: lid): 5 × 7 cm (1 15/16 × 2 3/4 in.) H x W x D (a,b: overall): 20.5 × 15 × 10.5 cm (8 1/16 × 5 7/8 × 4 1/8 in.)

It has the following markings

Underside of pot: [1] scepter above "C" type mark (?), painted in underglaze blue (Royal Porcelain Manufactory Berlin mark, the "C" also looks like Greek letter omega on its side) [3] "4" above "S", impressed underglaze [4] "T", impressed underglaze (to the right of marks 3 and 4) [5] "C" (?), impressed underglaze (typeset style font) No marks on cover.
