Dressing Table And Bench (USA), ca. 1929

This is a Dressing table and bench. It was after Léon Jallot and retailed by Lord & Taylor. It is dated ca. 1929 and we acquired it in 1969. Its medium is lacquered joined wood, mirrored glass, metal. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

Fashion-conscious consumer Marie-Louise Montgomery visited Lord & Taylor and ordered this dressing table and bench based on vanities by Léon Jallot, including one in exotic veneers exhibited at the 1928 Salon des artistes décorateurs. Its construction and red lacquer finish turn this dressing table into an Americanized interpretation of modern French taste.

This object was donated by James M. Osborn. It is credited Gift of James M. Osborn.
