Sampler (England), 1658

This is a Sampler. It was embroidered by Susana Pratt. It is dated 1658 and we acquired it in 1981. Its medium is silk and metal-wrapped silk embroidery on linen foundation and its technique is embroidered in satin, double running, stem, montenegrin, cross, chain, eyelet, interlacing, and detached looping stitches on plain weave foundation. It is a part of the Textiles department.
