Rectangular, slightly translucent nephrite box body and attatched lid, the bottom edge of lid has gold surround as does the upper edge of body. Lid is opened with nephrite cabochon release button. On box front is attached monogram "S". Gold link attached beneath gold hinge on left side. Striker carved into bottom with hatch marks.

Rectangular, long sides curved, snuff box style container, featuring cover with polychrome printed decoration of very large fair building, inscribed below "Chicago World's Fair 1893, Agricultural Building," thumb catch on cover inscribed "Wax Vestas Made in England," inscribed on curved front panel "Celebrated Wax Vestas, Bryant & May's," inscription identical on reverse curved panel with order reversed, short sides both inscribed "Bryant & May London"; all inscribed reserves framed by alternating blue and red bands, with stars punctuating all the blue bands. Cover hinged on reverse curved panel. Striker on underside of box.

Male, with back to viewer, has fallen mid-swing, his cap on the court beneath him. He has dark brown hair, wears white shirt, white pants, brown and white shoes. His female partner, racket raised, wears long pink skirt, light brown blouse, blue cap, brown shoes. Couple on far side of the net, dressed similarly, he in whites, she in long blue and white striped skirt, pink blouse. Shrubbery in background set against pink and blue sky.
