Oblong, with rounded corners, vertical sides curved, featuring winged, nude female: she is poised, legs slightly bent, on lily pads, framed by flower and leafy tendrils. Her hair flows beneath her waist, wings resemble dragonfly's wings, two insect-like antennae on top of her head. Reverse surface has undulating curves but is undecorated. Lid hinged on side. Striker recessed into bottom.

Rectangular, snuff box type container, lid featuring polychrome enamel decoration of doubles tennis game. Two couples play on green grass court. Male, with back to viewer, has fallen mid-swing, his cap on the court beneath him. He has dark brown hair, wears white shirt, white pants, brown and white shoes. His female partner, racket raised, wears long pink skirt, light brown blouse, blue cap, brown shoes. Couple on far side of the net, dressed similarly, he in whites, she in long blue and white striped skirt, pink blouse. Shrubbery in background set against pink and blue sky. Reverse inscribed with the initial W. Lid hinged on back panel. Striker on right panel.

Oblong, with curved bottom, and straight edged top from which emerges a retractable match compartment. Overall surface decoration features alternating grooves of six narrow and three slightly wider bands, slot on front center of body where a cabochon sapphire knob may be moved upwards, allowing top to rise up, out and fall backwards on interior hinge, while simultaneously raising the inner compartment, from which matches may be pulled. When closed, a recessed serated edge on top's exterior serves as striker. Link attached to bottom.

Circular, with flat top, assembled from a hollowed out tropical bean pod, the top of which is capped with a scalloped metal collar, over which a flat, hinged lid is attached. On front and reverse of collar small oval strikers are attached horizontally. Slight indentation in center of seed where a small, unadorned, metal shield is attached.

Rectangular, with rounded corners, curved sides, and slightly curved lid. Hollowed out section of burlwood features gold band that wraps around the circumference of lid's bottom edge, on which is a continuous Greek key design in white enamel. Lid catch on front features a small diamond square attached to gold and enamel band, from which a small diamond pendant is hinged, which snaps over a single diamond in order to lock lid shut. Reverse features two white enamel loops, each attached below a hinge. Oblong, cross-hatched, gold piece attached to bottom serves as striker.

Oblong, curved vertical sides, featuring woven and applied strips of cardboard, painted and varnished to resemble a bricked prison cell entrance. Rectangular, recessed doorway has grid of fine threads, simulating cell bars, black cornice-like band over door, number 43 painted in yellow at left of doorway; lower third of wall area woven and painted green, bordered above and below with black bands, upper 2/3 of wall area woven and painted red. Slip-top cover (upper third of box) when closed meets black overdoor band, lid may also be removed entirely. Striker of sandpaper on box bottom.

Oblong, snuff box style box, its body comprised of pieces of hollowed out antler, the lid framed in decoratively cut metal with a thumb catch at its front and a small unadorned plaque attached to its top. The sides are attached to the main body with continuous ribbed bands that wrap around the irregular, slightly tubular container. Matches were likely intended to be struck on highly textured box body itself.
