Clockwise from upper left is the detail of a roof eave showing the practice of extending roof beams far out beyond the wall below and resting the roof rafters on a cross beam that then rests on the floor beams to create a deep shadow. To the lower right of this is a slate gable with deep overhanging eave and half-timbered decoration below. At the bottom right corner is a small dormer with a rounded front topped by a ball finial. To the left of this is the meeting of two corners of a building producing a deep and unusual intersection of the eaves. Above this is another rendering of this same detail that was sketched below.

Vertical sheet depicting two medieval buildings. At left is a clock tower enclosed by an iron fence around the base. It consists of simple masonry in the Romanesque style but has added ornament at the level of the cupola that is very Gothic, including a tracery balustrade made of small trefoils, plus a belfry with crockets and small flags encircling it. Behind this to the left is part of another tower that has a similar treatment of its upper most section, which is decorated with crockets. Below this is a small plan of the building showing a stair tower at the upper right side of the plan. To the right of this drawing is the elevation of a Romanesque building with thick buttresses around the base, and an upper story made of a double-arched opening. Above is a steeple with small aedicules at the corners and a similarly pointed arched dormer in the center.

Horizontal sheet tipped vertically into binding illustrating a distant town seen from a high point. Visible are a large round tower at left, two large Romanesque towers with steeples to the right of this, and a few larger, lower rectangular structures with turrets a short distance to the right of the center towers. To the very far right and closer to the foreground is a belltower with domed cupola. There is a stand of trees in the foreground, and repeated rows of these trees which create a boundary from the foreground and the town in the distance.

Vertical sheet illustrating six sketches of buildings or architectural ornaments from Chenonceaux and Beaulieu. The upper half of the sheet contains four drawings. From left is a Renaissance style cupola consisting of three arcaded loggias culminating in a cross finial. The lowest loggia has the tallest arches, between which can be seen a bell. To the right of this is a small sketch of a window and dormer, the dormer having a very high projecting pediment and small flame-like finials on top of it and to the left and right. To the right of this is a very elaborate dormer, its upper windowed section supported at left and right by two cusped, round-arched buttresses. Above this is a very small drawing of a cupola and its finial. The bottom half of the sheet illustrates two complete buildings as opposed to their elements. At bottom left is a large tower consisting of a group of turrets massed together. At right is a house seen from the corner, a single turret visible at the left corner, and the peaked roof another seen at right. A small plan of this structure is drawn below the elevation.

Vertical sheet illustrating three sketches of buildings and architectural elements. Clockwise from top right is a finial created by four layers of oak leaves attached in gradually smaller tiers cuving upward against a pillar. Below this is a small dormer with simple ball finial, and at left is the largest sketch on the page, an elevation of medieval or Renaissance-period house seen from a corner. The house has a slightly overhanging second story and visible beams below the steeply pitched roof. The roof on its left side has two ball finials at either end and a small dormer at its eave below. The windows have small balconies made of crossed uprights.

Vertical sheet containing three sketches of buildings and architectural features. Above right is a detailed drawing of an ornamental design in a slate roof. The roof tiles are mainly rectangular, however in this section they are diamond-shaped but with an ogee outline and arranged three across to make a diamond pattern. To the left of this is the side elevation of a masonry structure that has a break in its roof eave that lays on top of small beams laid on top of one another above a small wooden shed-like projection. Below this is the top of a large, square tower with crocketed spires at each corner and a tracery arcade below its roofline.

Vertical sheet illustrating at left elevation of a bay of a building with a masonry ground floor level and half-timbered and plastered stories above. The attic has a large windowed gable projecting from the roof, the interior of the gable ornamented with shaped timbers. To the right of this is the view of a hipped roof of a building seen from the side, and showing an unusual arrangement of chimneys that project horizontally from the roof and each is capped with a cone. Below this is a view of the same chimney seen frontally.

Vertical sheet with five sketches of buildings and architectural elements. Clockwise from top right is a tiled dormer from Loches. Below this is a small open belfry with a narrow, pitched roof supported on two narrow posts, also from Loches. Below this is a masonry belfry attached to a round turret supported by stone modillions below. A bell is visible in the belfry, and it is topped by a cupola with finial flying a flag. To the left of this is portion of a façade elevation of a masonry building in a late Renaissance style. The elevation consists of four stories, each of which has a double arcade (door openings at the ground level with windows repeated in the arcade above). Above this sketch is the elevation of a building exterior with a portico at the second floor from which descends a curved masonry staircase to the ground below.
