Many figures occupy the foreground of this horizontal outdoor scene. A nude woman with fabric tied around her hips and draped over her legs is stretched out, lounging in the lower left corner. Nearby, to the right, two women, left seated and right kneeling, hold between them a floral crown garland, which they appear to be in the process of making. The left woman holds the stem of a flower in her right hand, ready to add it to the wreath. Both women wear similar garlands in their hair and there are finished botanical crowns strewn on the ground at their feet. Behind them, three figures stand with arms draped about each other, a young man at far right, a man in the center, and a woman to the left. She is crowning with a branch a winged child (Cupid), standing and holding a bow and arrow upright in each hand, to the left. To the right side of the image, a pair stands with a tree between them, a boy at left and a bearded man wearing a wide-brimmed hat at right. They hold between them a long object with a pointed end, which could be an animal’s horn or a branch of the tree nearby which has been broken off. In the background, at center, a man drives a pair of horned oxen among mostly barren tree trunks, the canopies of which have been cut off at about the same height, and which are bearing clusters of grapes.
