Sidewall, Les Moutons

This is a sidewall. It was distributed by Nancy McClelland. It is dated 1952 and we acquired it in 1998. Its medium is block printed on paper. It is a part of the Wallcoverings department.

This well-executed reproduction wallpaper captures the delicacy and balance of the late-eighteenth century arabesque style. Printed in a two-column format, each centered on a central axis, the floating landscape plateaus do not appear awkward, even while suspending floral swags. The design is delicately colored, while the pale blue background was a favorite of the period.

This object was donated by The Museum at The Fashion Institute of Technology. It is credited Gift of The Museum at The Fashion Institute of Technology.
