Strassle is a painter, illustrator, and textile designer. In her youth Strassle attended art school on the Ruhr and then trained at the Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart. In 1969 she worked as a freelance textile designer in Zurich. 1974 she began a four year program to study French Language and Literature in Paris. In 1977 she moved to New York where her creative work really began to take on its own identity. She worked as a designer for Mira-X International Furnishings, Inc.
