Ursula Luthi

As a student, Kivalo was already working at Marimekko. She began as a textile printer and later turned to weaving tapestries. She has produced tapestry sculptures in the form of animals on her 100-year old loom. In 2000, she was nominated Textile Designer of the Year by TEXO, association of Finnish textile designers. Kivalo is known for using traditional and contemporary tapestry techniques.
