Valentina Kulagina studied at VKhUTEMAS, Russia’s State art and technical school. She married Klutsis, an artist. In 1928, Kulagina joined the group, October. She was then employed by Izogiz (State Art Publishing House of Art) and VOKS (All-Union Society of Cultural Relations Abroad). She was commissioned to design posters, books, and exhibitions.
