Bernd Becher

Born in Siegen, Germany on 20 August 1931. Education: Painting and lithography at Staatlichen Kunstakademie, Stuttgart; typography at Staatlichen Kunstakademie, Düsseldorf, 1957-61. Married to Hilla Wobeser in 1961 (Hilla Becher, partner) They together worked as freelance photographers concentrating on industrial photography in Düsseldorf since 1959. Instructors in photography at Staatlichen Kunstakademie, Düsseldorf. Recipient: British Council Photo Study Grant 1966; Fritz-Thyssen-Stiftung Grant, West Germany 1967-68,
