Issey Miyake (Japanese, b.1935), one of the leading clothing designers of our time, is known for his innovative fashion design which often combines new and old developments in science and technology to create garments of unpretentious beauty. Miyake is also a director, along with graphic designer, Taku Satoh, and industrial designer, Naoto Fukasawa, of 21_21 Design Sight, a Tokyo exhibition space devoted to exploring modern and contemporary design, art and technology.
