Exxon Mobil Corporation

Exxon Mobil Corporation is a oil and gas company based in the United States. Formed in 1999 through the merger of the Mobil Corporation and the Exxon Corporation, it was one of the world’s three largest oil companies in the early 21st century. Exxon Mobil’s earliest predecessor, founded in 1866, is Vacuum Oil Company, which became part of Standard Oil Company and Trust in 1882. Another precursor, Standard Oil Company of New York (Socony), was also established by the trust in 1882.
