Weiyi Cai
Weiyi (Dawn) Cai is a designer, graphics journalist, and visual storyteller. She works to distill complex information from current affairs into digestible visual forms ranging from charts and maps to videos and animations. Currently she works in Seoul as the Senior Editor for visuals at The New York Times, where she leads a small team of journalists producing visual-driven journalism covering stories in the Asia Pacific region. She joined the Times in 2019 and was a key author on stories that showed how Notre-Dame was nearly destroyed; how Tucker Carlson fuels extremism; how the world failed to stop COVID; why a Bronx fire burned; and why the Mexico City subway collapsed.
