Edel Rodriguez (He/Him) is a Cuban-American illustrator whose work has been published in The New Yorker, The New York Times, and Rolling Stone. Born in the small town of El Gabriel south of Havana, Rodriguez emigrated to Florida with his family via the Mariel Boatlift, where he would remain until matriculating to the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, followed by Hunter College, where he earned his MFA in 1998. In conjunction with art that explores socialist propaganda and island culture amongst other motifs, he regularly illustrates posters for plays and musicals, films, and children’s books.
