Barbera Elisabeth (Babs) Haenen

Babs Haenen, an international figure in ceramics, produces uniquely shaped vessels and stained porcelain pastes. Her pots are very decorative, following the centuries’ old tradition of using color in the clay. Haenen’s ceramics are part of one of the most innovative movements of the 20th century: Organic Abstraction. She started her career as a dancer and then turned to crafts, studying at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy 1974-9. Haenen is represented by Garth Clark.
