On box, large-scale floral sprig set within a vining foliate framework. On lid, sailing vessel on ocean, with legend: Prosperity to our Commerce and Manufacturers. Printed in pink, white and olive on a yellow ground.

This bandbox and lid is block-printed on handmade paper, cardboard support. Its dimensions are: H x W x D: 46 x 37 x 31cm (18 1/8 x 14 9/16 x 12 3/16in.).

This bandbox and lid is from United States and dated ca. 1830.

Gift of Eleanor and Sarah Hewitt. This object came to our collection as a Gift, in 1917.
