Letter Case

This is a Letter case. It is dated 17th century and we acquired it in 1924. Its medium is paper, silk, gold-wrapped silk, gold wire, foil, and spangles on silk foundation and its technique is embroidered on paper faced with silk plain weave in surface satin and couching stitches with attached coils of gold wire and foil, flat strips of gold foil, flattened loops of silver and gold spangles on plain weave foundation. It is a part of the Textiles department.
