Black Basalt Covered Urn Urn

This is a urn. It was decorated by John Flaxman and manufactured by Wedgwood. It is dated 1780–1800 and we acquired it in 1938. Its medium is stoneware ("black basalt"). It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.
