Pewter-Mounted Tankard Tankard

This is a tankard. It was manufactured by Meissen Porcelain Factory and Meissen Porcelain Manufactory and painted by J. G. Horoldt. It is dated 1725–1735 and we acquired it in 1958. Its medium is hard paste porcelain, vitreous enamel, pewter. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

This object was donated by R. Thornton Wilson. It is credited Gift of R. Thornton Wilson.

Its dimensions are

H x W x D: 20 × 13 × 10.5 cm (7 7/8 × 5 1/8 × 4 1/8 in.)

It has the following markings

Underside: [1] double crossed swords, painted in underglaze blue (Meissen Porcelain Manufactory mark) [2] "14", impressed underglaze (very faint) [3] "981", written in pencil
