Brochure, Triumphal March
This is a brochure. It was designed by Edward McKnight Kauffer and written by T. S. Eliot and printed by The Curwen Press and published by Faber and Faber. It is dated 1931 and we acquired it in 1963. Its medium is offset lithograph, hand-colored additions in brush and brown watercolor on paper. It is a part of the Drawings, Prints, and Graphic Design department.

![A gouache drawing for a Faber and Faber 1930 edition of T.S. Eliot's poem Marina. In the center are two abstract blue, white and black seated figures, one sitting on the other's lap. One with a blue beard and a lined brow faces us, while the other turns to the left. The bottom figure rendered partially in black shadow twists to hold a large black sphere with a white, black-outlined hand pointed upwards to our right, and wears black knee high socks and white shoes with black laces. The other has legs crossed at the ankles with bare feet and fabric with blue black and white folds across the knee, perhaps holding a book at the chest with capitalised blue text which reads [DATTA / DAYADHVAM / DAMYATA]. The figures are set against a blue abstracted background which extends outwards towards the left, it seemingly depicts the the sea with white v shaped waves and a deep blue starry sky. The illustration is signed and dated by the artist [E. McKnight Kauffer '30] on our bottom left between the feet of the two figures. There is an insciption in pen and black ink [Please return this visual to E. Mcknight Kauffer 16 Great Jones St. w.e.l] followed by [for T.S.
