This is a Chintz. It is dated 18th century and we acquired it in 1973. Its medium is cotton and its technique is mordant for black, 1 red and 2 purples applied by pen and brush over resist; madder dyed; blue applied by brush over resist; chintz on plain weave. It is a part of the Textiles department.
