Band (Ireland)

This is a Band. It is dated 20th century and we acquired it in 1974. Its medium is cotton and its technique is heavy cord (which also forms loops) couched to a pain weave linen fabric. fabric is then cut away in selected areas. connecting bars of buttonhole stitches over a cord are put in. machine-made net sewn on to fill in motifs. It is a part of the Textiles department.
